After the Daeleaks startling data dump and the nationwide chaos that ensued last week it seemed all hope was lost for the Republic of Daeliovania. The Government’s attempts at restoring order had failed and the exact effects of its spying programs were still being examined abroad. With different political factions seizing territory and openly requesting foreign assistance, the likelihood of a long drawn out civil war was a big one.
Rioting and small arms fire saw 31 killed and 72 injured over first two nights of unrest.
Thankfully an emergency session of the Coalition of Independent Nations General Council managed to push through a resolution that would allow for an intervention on behalf of the people of Daeliovania. “The objectives of Operation Phoenix are simple. Stop foreign powers from expanding the conflict while bringing stability back to the the Republic of Daeliovania.” explained General Hakim Razak a key proponent of the emergency resolution. He notes further that “had it not been for the resulting arms embargo or our [CDF] deployment the political atmosphere in Daeliovania would have been a completely different one.” The Emperor Ian of Flowrisa released the following statement "the situation in Daeliovania, in my opinion is getting better, as it has finally returned to it's name, the Democratic Republic of Daeliovania." King Naple of Candro also expressed his views while addressing a public gathering in the Candronese Holy City Meccullum "It saddens me to see so much potential go to waste over a failed ideology like democracy I hope that the new government will be better than the previous but we must be prepared for the worst" Non-coalition states also spoke out regarding Operation Phoenix. When reached for comment Karodnav Totslensky, Chief Executive of the Usniyan Politburo stated. "We firmly believe that the coalition's actions were the right decision in order to ensure peace and stability in the nation, and we applaud the member states for not allowing their potential wrongs by Daeliovania to get in the way on ensuring a proper democratic transition of government and the assurance of human rights.” General from the LMI government was also called and argued that the "coalition loves to call us imperialistic warmongers, and insult our core values, but look at what they are doing in Dael! They have blockaded a country not in their alliance, sent in their "peace keepers", and set up countless military bases, all in order to set up a government they deem suitable. This is a clean cut invasion and expansion of coalition power. Admittedly, the country is fractured. But how is it the coalitions decision on what path the country will take? With how they claim to be so much better then us, why then are they occupying a country, and taking its fate into their own hands?What gives them the right to decide deals fate with no request from its people as a whole? At least the Imperium is honest about its war efforts when such efforts are required, but the Coalitions hypocrisy in this instance is sickening. They claim to be fighting against our tyranny, but their efforts have been just as imperialistic as ours." Thanks to complete access given to international journalists by the CDF we were able to travel to Daeliovania and the following is a breakdown of the Operation Phoenix. Phase 1: Arms Embargo and Naval Blockade

17th of September 0150 hours 4 Coalition Naval Carrier Strike Groups under the superb command of Scepezian Captain Polze Kolenskey were sent to blockade and patrol the Daelian coast and surrounding areas. All ships were to be boarded and searched and all aircraft were to be rerouted to a CDF Base in Flowrisa for searching or risk being engaged. 0230 Carrier Strike Group Valitsyanov of the Usniyan Eastern Fleet led by Admiral Alynoskevy set up 70 nautical miles north of the blockade with the intention of assisting the Coalition and securing the waters 0350 Hours An LMI flotilla attempting to breach the blockade approached and demanded access without search. The fleet commander stated that “you have no right to search our ships”. The situation worsened as several LMI allies also sent naval units to the theatre. Under the brave leadership of Captain Kolenskey the fleet stood firm and he insisted any ship that violates the blockade will be taken as hostile. 0430 After several intense communications between the Captain and the LMI flotilla and the possibility of war with the Imperium increased. They relented and accepted the Coalition terms. Naval units boarded and searched each ship before allowing them through to evacuate a pro-LMI faction that was responsible for a large amount of instability and unrest. 0510 CDF Special Forces and friendly units used the cover of darkness to deploy all across Daeliovania to secure key strategic targets including The Channel,power generating facilities,ports,railways,airports and High value citizens of the Republic.

Phase 2: No fly zone and Ground Campaign Deployment 0945 CDF Air Command deployed an additional 20 high tech interceptors to bolster the already large numbers of fighter jets and reconnaissance aircraft operating in conjunction with Naval air units. 1300 CDF 40,000 ground forces that have were preparing throughout the night take off simultaneously from several bases in the Federation of Darenne, the Federal Republic of Bentria and the Empire of Flowrisa. 1500 20,000 marines deploying via amphibious assault ships. Pass through the Channel that was secured by Special Forces overnight and beach at 4 landing points across the Daelian inner coast in waves of 5,000. Initial resistance from armed vigilante groups was quickly overcome however 35 marines lost their lives with 8 injured. 1530 The marines move to secure a territory 30km inland from the coast and reinforce nearby Spec ops units that have been pinned down since the early hours of the morning. Their first attempt at a breakout is halted by a loyalist Tank brigade and several artillery batteries and MG nests near the coast. 74 marines died and 21 are injured. 1700 The first paratroopers begin to land all over the country some anti air guns still operational fired on the aircraft and descending soldiers killing over 860 and injuring 137 men and women in addition to 2 transport planes before guided missiles from naval vessels took them out. 2045 All CDF soldiers are on the ground while Paratroopers regroup with small pockets of fighting against armed militias and some loyalist military battalions ensues all across the country. Spec ops units that were relieved by paratroopers and marines join the hunt for WMDs and people instrumental to the transitional government. Curfew is in effect in high risk areas to prevent civilians from being collateral. 2320 Captured airfields across the country begin receiving humanitarian aid alongside military APCs. Medic units begin setting up field hospitals to replace the damaged Daelian health care system for all civilians to use and army engineers work on restoring power and water supply to areas with intense fighting. confidence for many to return to their daily lives.
18th-28th September Fighting continues however becomes less frequent. Remaining armed factions pushed out of urban areas into small pockets across the countryside. 98% of country in CDF hands. Life returns to normalcy with several schools,hospitals,factories,Courts of law and many other businesses reopened.CDF Patrols common sight throughout the Republic. Elections are scheduled for the 29th of September. All parties are given 20 million United pounds to facilitate campaigning. CDF Spec ops handle security for all candidates on all levels. We stopped random citizens of Dael and asked them what they thought of the CDF this is what they said. Johnson a former dock worker told us “before they arrived it was chaos. Now things are getting much better.” Elisa a 21 year old university student praised them “I thank God for the Coalition. We thought they were going to come and take over our country but they are truly trying to get us back on our feet.” Depending on your views the Coalition action was a cure to a crisis or a different kind of poison. The Operation has drawn large amounts of support and opposition since it was announced. Many experts say the decision for a forward deployment of the CDF shows just how firmly it will uphold its founding principles while others label it as rebranded Imperialism.
